For those in Australia

Libraries Rebuild with Books 24-31 October 2009

Rebuilding with Books for libraries starts tomorrow with dozens of libraries representing every state and territory taking part in the fundraising to buy book vouchers for people who lost their homes in the Victorian bushfires. Over the next eight days there will be free dress days in WA, book sales in Victoria, South Australia, ACT and the Northern Territory, morning teas in Tasmania and cup cake days in NSW.

Actually, you might be able to help me with a bit of info. Hubby & I are about to do our annual "never gonna read that again" bookshelf clear. As you know most of our books are under 3 years old & in really good condition. We'd LOVE to donate them to libraries (or individuals) particularly in last years bushfires regions. Is there any initiative running for something like this & do you have any contact for me?

Hey sweetie, my response was sitting in draft mode for sooo long :(

First I would contact your local public library. You might be asked to bring the books to the library or, seeing as you are actually *in* Victoria, you might be given the local sorting warehouse address to take them to directly.

If, in the unlikely chance you run into the one library who has no idea what is going on, I would then contact this person:
