Dark Side of the Moon Designs

Been seeing this designer pop up on a few sites on the last few days.

As most of you know I like this kind of stuff, so I thought I'd pop up a quick blog entry.

I do not know the designer but she seems to be Australian ...

Both charts have been added to my lust lists for now.

I actually like these. They did a nice job on the faces from what I can tell. And I love the dresses!

I like the fact they are from original drawings. Not just copies of famous works, but more "inspired by" and are original works or art in their own right

I like these. I would have liked to see blending filaments used in the train of the blue girls dress.

There are definitely metallics used somewhere on both designs .... http://www.abcstitch.com/designers_php/designers.php?category=Dark%20Side%20of%20The%20Moon

Well, I saw this in the ABC Newsletter and I thought it screams, yells, hollers, shouts Mel :-)

That said, I do like these - wouldn't stitch them, but they look very nice and well drawn.

Mel, I know her personally and she lives in Sydney. I am getting her designs in.

Melissa Hicks said...

Well I'm now sunk! Put one copy of each aside for me please :)

Okay will do. How's life and when do you get to move into your house?

Thats a long complicated and depressing story. Will write new blog post. Give me 5 mins.

Yeah, I figured these were right up your alley when I saw them in the ABC Newsletter - they look pretty nice - for humanoid designs :) I bet the dresses are gorgeous done up!

I agree with you 100% Mel! I already ordered Lady Anne and I can't wait for her to arrive. Which one do you think that you'd stitch first?

I have an image in Gothy in the blue at some swank function. ;-))

Melissa Hicks said...

Well Gothy has already been in the red dress a number of times :) :)

However I do not have the figure to wear the blue :)

Unsure at this point - to be perfectly honest I'm seriously thinking of changing the background fabric for the blue dress. But I'm not sure into what - I'm half tempted to use a pale green like Silkweaver's Scattered Leaves or Wandering Ivy.

Black...

It would look stunning on black. The red one, too.

Melissa Hicks said...

Stitching it on black would negate the "Spring" part of the Spring Serenade title :) :)

I don't like the background fabric for that one either Mel. That's a tough one!

Hmmm, what about something orange-gold? Orange & blue are complimentary, a more golden tone would really bring out her hair. Silkweaver's Autumn Sunrise (the lugana - lighter, less mottled), or Goldspinner (again, the lugana), Golden Promise linen, and I would really be curious to see what it'd look like on Cinnamon Roll (lugana, if the linen really is browner). Or, maybe their new color, Peach Orchard, which has the orange-gold and the green you are thinking of - it's definitely more Spring-feeling than Cinnamon Roll, though Golden Promise is kind of Spring-y, too :)

I have Goldspinner and Wandering Ivy in my stash. I'll do a floss toss on each when my stash finally catches with me.

Aren't you even goth enough for that? :-)

I'm not too sure - I think the colours would jump out on any nice, dark fabric. If not downright black, then something aubergine or dark brown for the red one and something ultramarine or navy for the blue one...
