*snerk* nice close up of Trub!

Looks like you will have fun finding out what is in all these!

I can't believe it's there already - I thought for sure it'd be the end of the week! And did the lovely folks at Customs rip into it??? I was wondering if the entire thing being wrapped in tape and the slightly vague customs tag would send up red flags; the purple stuff looks like it was right where I jamm.. uh, put it. Happy Birthday!

Rosanne Derrett said...

Not her best side though! She has to check everything and place on it the paw mark of approval. After all she is house quality inspector (well that is my Harry's exuse)

Karen R said...

HMMM, mine all seem to run and hide when the camera is pointed in their direction... I see scissors and a bobbin of floss!

Mariann Mäder said...

That you should do, Mel! That looks totally yummy, that package! Way to go, Karen!

Mariann Mäder said...

Nice payback there, Mel!

Mariann Mäder said...

Your cat is definitely a little camera whore! Doesn't she just sneak in so many pictures, LOL!!! What fun :-)

kay jones said...

I'd love to be your ginger cat
So I could sleep all day
I wouldn't care just where I sat
Cos thats considered play

Paula Hubert said...

Oh great fun for presents! I think you'll have one that's late due to some snags in acquiring all the necessary accessories....

Nancy Murdock said...

ooooh, looks like fun, you must have alot of will power!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Actually Nancy they look too beautiful to unwrap ....... so I've decided to leave it at least until the weekend so I can take my time and open them leisurely ....

And anyway its not actually my birthday until next Wednesday .......

Kayle Jensen said...

Happy Birthday a bit Late I believe! Looks like you were nicely spoiled!

Melissa Hicks said...

Early !!!!! My birthday is not for another week !!!!! I just have some ultra-organized friends !

And I have a least one more ultra-organized friend who is tearing her hair out because international mail is not her friend and she sent the parcel weeks ago !!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Its strange - you deliberately try to take a photo of her and she can't be found! Try to take a photo of something else and she's all over you! Ornery cuss that she is !!!!

Janine Smith said...

Happy Birthday Mel, What a lovely lot of presents you received from your friends. How lovely to be so loved by them all that they would make your day special. A gorgeous lot of gifts for you. I am sure Trub will come around especiallly when you show the little mice. My furbabies would love them for sure.

Lovely gifts Mel, enjoy!!

Holy Batman! What a great birthday you are having! And it isn't even here yet!! All of your gifts are amazing. If I am not mistaken, Galatea is stitched on either Stormy Seas or Seaside Melody!!

I won't tell you how many of those we have lost somewhere in this house.... I imagine a great deal of them are under the fridge.

Mariann Mäder said...

This is gorgeous!!!

And Karen claims she couldn't make one of those simple envelopes??????? *I* couldn't make one of those boxes!!!

Mariann Mäder said...

Well, I know all about the Lindt ones :-) they're local stuff after all... good stuff if you like the dark! I wouldn't put my hand in the fire that the contents really does come from the stated countries of origin of the beans though :-D

Mariann Mäder said...

Karen, that's awesome! What a sweetheart you are! And no one deserves better than that Minion :-)

Happy birthday, Mel! These almost all look like good train projects , so get cracking! What's going to be next after Party Cat? You have a lot to choose!

Rosanne Derrett said...

I think I need the doggy one of these. The cat is beyond help - he is a fully fledged psychopath, armed and ready to maul! Shame is only me he ever targets. The cat on head thing is just for the winter - I think it is a tortie thing as three of ours have done the it

Hilary Syddall said...

Oooh what a wonderful haul! lucky Gothy :-)

kay jones said...

Love the fabric. Looks similar to the one that I got from Sally for the last model I did. What are you going to do with yours?

kay jones said...

What a beautiful bracelet. No wonder you love it, so would I

kay jones said...

Isn't she clever? and so generous. You are a star Karen

Claire EJ said...

One word....CAT!

It's what they do.

Melissa Hicks said...

Yes but Trubby is 11 years old and this is *new* behaviour !!!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

AH !!! Now *there's* a thought !!!! I'll check when I get the chart :) :) :)

Melissa Hicks said...

You are simply tooo wonderful for words !!!!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Hmm I have some plans in motion for when Party Cat finishes. First I need to figure out if I can use the Q-snaps on the train, then if I can stitch linen and then if I can stitch over one .... I have a few gifts to make ......

Melissa Hicks said...

There indeed is a dog version - check out Amazon :) :) :)

Melissa Hicks said...

Ummm no idea at this point - Karen suggests that it would work well for The Phoenix. I'm not sure its big enough for the Dracolair version - but it might work for the Moonflower designs version ......

Melissa Hicks said...

That box is totally fabulous !!!!! I'm still so very very gobsmacked !!!!!!

Hilary Syddall said...

That is so cute! lucky you :-)

Michele Anderson said...

Hi Mel,

Here is the link of Galatea on Seaside Melody. The original is done on Stormy Seas. I liked the lighter version of Seaside so that is what I ordered. Inside the chart she has a suggestion of using Splendor silks for the face, I just might do that.

Nancy Murdock said...

Very COOL!!!

Nancy Murdock said...

Very nice! Love the payback photos!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Hey Chele - I *won* the Stormy Seas fabric in a Bingo Game on Lekker Threads list - it should turn up sometime soonish I hope .......

So I'll use that fabric - and save the Seaside Melody for something else - perhaps Jardin ???

Paula Hubert said...

Ohhh lovely gifts for sure, Mel! I'm so glad you're having a wonderful birthday so far!

Karen R said...

The crystal mouse was my favorite, but I saw the dangly fish bone, and knew it had to be on there!

Karen R said...

I am a master with glue and paint; actual sewing seems to be my Achilles Heel, since I have a tendancy to break machinery when it doesn't do what I want it to do :( But I will manage an enevelope eventually, even if I have to do the whole thing by hand! Only because I don't think the hot glue would hold up to mailing very well :) LOL - I'm kidding. I know it wouldn't hold up....

Laura Landis said...

Mel, it looks like you've had a wonderful birthday so far!! You certainly deserve it!!

Hilary Syddall said...

I think just shows what a popular little Minion you are Mel!

Michele Anderson said...

Mel, You really are a hoot!

Karen R said...

Pretty! That PR is gorgeous!

Karen R said...

Cute idea, Mariann!

Karen R said...

Aww, Tigger! HHHMMMM, raspberry tea - that sounds yummy (for the 2-3 times a year I drink tea)!

Karen R said...

TeeHee! I won't tell you how many times I've done that myself, especially when I was taking jewelry pictures for my website-that-never-was.

Melissa Hicks said...

You should reconsider and set up that idea - your work is gorgeous !!!!!!!

Karen R said...

Someday, when I get more support at home (i.e. less dinners to prepare and homework to check and loads of laundry to do) - DH was all for it, because he thought it would be lots of income he could use for his toys, but he wasn't willing to help me do it, especially when I had order deadlines to meet. Not to mention I was a big dummy and trusted the wrong person to help do the website itself. When I have time to learn how to do it myself, so when I need something updated I can go do it, then I might consider it again. This experience was 10 months of absolute hell and anxiety that I am not willing to go through again soon. Of course, by the time the planets align to allow me this time and presence of mind, the current bead fad will be so over :(

Similar to working stained glass; sadly, I can buy ready-made pieces a whole lot cheaper than I can make them, even if I have the workspace and tools all accounted for. That is an expensive hobby, and best left to others. Besides, the two designs I still have in the house are broken - stained glass doesn't seem to hold up too well around those males in my house :( Someday, someday.... Keep encouraging me - I hope to eventually rise above my circumstances!

Melissa Hicks said...

Ah I see !!!!! what an unfortunate set of circumstances !!!!!

Well I'll pester you again when the kids have grown up and DH moves away :) :)

I'll pester you into doing stained glass again too - that's a hobby I've always wanted to learn but never yet had the time and money available to devote to it .....

kay jones said...

I've got the companion one to this Legend of the Dragons. Its part finished but its one of those that take soooooo much time, especially the TW bit

Mariann Mäder said...

Yep, me too - the dragons. I didn't know if Mel has that already, so I only offered to send it. I know I most probably won't do either of them :-)

So Mel - do you have it already? If not I'll gladly forward it to you later on...

Melissa Hicks said...

Sorry for the late reply ladies - I do indeed already do have the Dragons one. Haven't stitched it yet - but I do have it. I'll have to start one of these soon !!!!

Karen R said...

Very cool! And I want a set of Vikki's Dragon colors, too - aren't they great?

Karen R said...

That fabric is very nice - goes great with the froggies!

Karen R said...

Excellent!!!

Karen R said...

WOW! How cool is that Celtic bird design? That is wonderful! And a hand made card to boot!

Karen R said...

That bell pull is gorgeous!!!! Well done, Paula (and Mel)!!!!!

Karen R said...

Beautiful!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Oooh I went looking and saw all the other Dragon colours - I think I now know what I will be spending my gift certificate from Lyne on :) :) :)

thanks so much Karen and Annette for alerting me to these !!!!

Stephanie Flynn said...

What a truly awesome gift! Sounds like you had a great birthday!

Claire EJ said...

Love the flat fold!! Those frog boys are so cute.

Claire EJ said...

That is so beautifully made!

Claire EJ said...

Wow, this really is some birthday haul!

Claire EJ said...

Poor Paula had a huge panic over getting the bell pull hardware for this. Much "virtual" handholding ensued! The end result is simply fabulous, Miss Paula!!!

Mel, can we have a pic of the bellpull right way up please!!

LOL, there it is on the next page...of course!

Claire EJ said...

It's beautiful! loving the tassle! Wow.

Mariann Mäder said...

How awesome is that? Well done, Paula! Congrats, Mel! It looks gorgeous!

Hilary Syddall said...

Oooh that is wonderful! What a lucky Gothy!

Melissa Hicks said...

And yet I had no idea !!!! It looks fantastic - Miss Paula did a *stunning* job !!!! It has pride of place where anyone can see it as they come through the door.

Nancy Murdock said...

Wow, you have some fantastic friends in this group Mel!!! How cool is that, that your birthday gets to last weeks??? All your presents were fantastic, just leaving one comment attached to this special one!

Tracy H said...

How cool is that! You do have the nicest bunch of friends.

Claire EJ said...

You're not supposed to have any idea about that kind of thing LOL.

Paula Hubert said...

LOL I figured the panic would be mentioned {VBG}. I was so proud of myself - got the stitching all done a couple of MONTHS ahead of time and promptly let the calendar get away from me!

I've been on tenter hooks the past few days hoping that it had arrived safely.. I'm glad it did and that you like it!

Melissa Hicks said...

Like it? Like it???? I adore it!!! Everyone at work was shown and everyone else has been told about it over the phone! Its perfect!

Claire EJ said...

And now of course I took a look at the series and oh how cute...k is for knitter....love it.
Huge , huge saucer sized spider lurking at the top of our hallway. No way to get to it 20ft up in the air....it's like 3 inches across.....eep!

Melissa Hicks said...

Umm - don't go through that hallway until Steve gets home?

Paula Hubert said...

Eeep! I'd come over and get him except for the 20 feet in the air bit... {sigh} I'm not that great with ladders!

Claire EJ said...

Steve was home.... LOL....no way to get to the thing last night and now, it's moved...as they do.....eep!

Hilary Syddall said...

I don't suppose the attack cat would get it would he?

Claire EJ said...

20 feet up a flat stair wall?? LOL, even Buzz doesn't get up that high. It's just a flat wall....Who knows where the horrible black legged thing is now?

I did check Buzz this morning to see if he had any legs dangling from his gob.

Hilary Syddall said...

Maybe he will get it if the horrible thing comes to ground level!

Mark has told me that I am not to even think about going into either the shed or the garage in the new place as there are some stonking great arachnids in there as well!

Karen R said...

Good stuff - that ort & needle holder is pretty nifty! Love the chart (love that whole set, huh?) and gorgeous fob on your cutter! AWW, kitty!

Mariann Mäder said...

Just how lovely is that? Such a wonderful gift for you, Mel!

Claire EJ said...

I think I put the Cutter package in there but if I didn't, one side is for finer threads and the other for thicker stuffs...you'll work it out :)

Was the book in there too??

Claire EJ said...

Yes, fob is handmade but it was only after I sent it that I remembered you wanted to hand the cutter from your lanyard for work with the id card.....ah well...

Melissa Hicks said...

Yes you included the cutter packaging and the book and I have Laura's RR too :) All in the same package, but you specifically said which items were the pressie - so those are the ones I photographed :) being the good Minion I am :) So when do you want to start the read along?

Claire EJ said...

ROFL.....so I did :) The RAL...hmmm....what ya reading right now?

I just finished Shopaholic and Baby [disappointingly derivative] and after a short Debbie Macomber, my next book slot is open.
I have a Jilly Cooper for our trip away but Needle In The Blood could fit in quite nicely between now and then!

Melissa Hicks said...

OK - I just finished reading Night Watch and I'm not really ready for Day Watch - they are brutally realistic books (well given that they are about werewolves and magicians and such in present day Russia).

So unless First Amongst Sequels turns up on Wednesday I am ready to read something new.

Claire EJ said...

Night Watch? by whom? I'm sure I should already know this but very much oh dark thirty and the brain is relatively switched off....
I *could* start NITB later today assuming the headache is gone....

Melissa Hicks said...

Sorry babe - brain dead myself at the moment and liable to stay that way for a few days.

Paula Hubert said...

Oh - a lovely chart! Enjoy!

Melissa Hicks said...

The mystery gifter finally came forward! Its was Terri !!!!! Thank you Terri !!!!!!!!

Terri England said...

You were so welcome. I just had to after you sent me a wonderful birthday card and thread
