3 November 2007.
Alison despairs that she can't seem to feed him up - but he looks so much better. Very sleek and healthy.
This is the little black stray I was feeding and Alison and Jane have now adopted.
OK this album has morphed into being photos of all of the Compston household :)

Look how much brighter his eyes are! Wow. That is a big difference. maybe he's not meant to be any bigger than he is already. Some cats are sleek and slimline and some are big old boofheads like my Buzz.
Wow, gorgeous girl! Those stripey socks look like fair game to me , hehehe, time for a toe pounce!
bandit didn't play before now? he must like haing Lothy for company!
I'm so not sure if that position is good or bad LOL [carefully]. They do seem to be doing all the normal cat things and appear to not have any territory issues with their closeness on the rug like that....
Again, look at Lothario's eyes! Amazing!. Mel, you so did the right thing involving Alison. I'm so happy to know it's going so well.
Wow! Good for all of them!!! I'm so glad to see him being at home! Booger and Zeke used to play like that all the time, until Booger got too old, and Zeke too rotund and lethargic.
I can't get over the color of his eyes - he looks like a Halloween cat. And I think he looks pretty healthy - Booger has never been above 10 pounds, but his frame is about the same as Zeke the 25 pounder; Booger has Siamese in him, and by nature, they don't usually get big at all - slinky, I think is the best word.
Pretty! And he does look like he's thinking about pouncing on something, with that ear cocked back, listening to your camera, I bet :)
Given that this is only six or so weeks ago, the change in him is remarkable!
Well done to my girls for looking after him so well.
Thanks everyone for your comments - Alison was telling me that he was playing with Bandit and they were both sleeping on her bed at night and there appear to be no proximity issues - but I thought I'd take my camera and see if I could record this for myself.
Well I was there for an hour adjusting Jane's dress and I could have taken hundreds of more shots of the two of them playing !!! Actually Charlie, one of Alison's large dogs kept trying to play too, but I couldn't get a clear shot without his boof head being in the way, so poor Charlie was confined to the backyard for 20 mins or so so we could get the dress done and some shots taken.
He seems to have made himself right at home now, and appears to get on well with Bandit. I take it he does not try to get out at night now.
Actually I got the following email from Alison earlier tonight:
I let Lothario outside this morning, thought it was going to rain today & all week..... got it wrong ..... he stuck around the house, worked out where the open doors are without any issues. so i figure the final hurdle in rehoming him has been jumped comfortably. just to cut short your "I told you so", yes you did, & yes you were 100% correct!
Nope he in fact very rarely sings or howls and settles down comfortably on Alisons bed as soon she goes to sleep each night and he stays there.
There's good news. Sounds like your boy is well at home with Alison and I am so happy to hear it :)
so is Alison !!! She's lost her heart to him so it would be heartbreaking if he decided not to stay there in the long run. And he is such a different cat - his personality has soooo changed !! He's sleek, he's confident, he's quiet because he doesn't need the bravado .... beautiful - I'm soooo happy!
But I do miss him around here some nights .....
Yeah, I bet you do miss him. Wonder if Trubs does at all? But, she's your friend and one you visit often, you'll still see him. He just won't be yours in the same way.
Claire - exactly !!! You have summed up all of my feelings very succinctly.
As for Trubs - nah! She resented his intrusion - she'd *never* play with him the way Bandit does. Its much better this way for all cats concerned :) :)
You know, he looks as my Sarah looked - he'll never get really big I suppose! But what a cutie and what beautiful dark yellow eyes!!! Sweet cat!
Sweet pic of them playing!
Oh - he looks SO much better! He's a stunner with those eyes!
I'm not totally sure he's looking at the socks - might be the wispy bits at the bottom of that skirt!
LOL - it does look like Lothy has a friend - I'm glad he's feeling a bit more settled!
He looks as though he is one happy black cat these days!
Now that is a cat who has fallen on his paws. I am so pleased for everyone that he has settled so wel.
Just thought you would like to see this pic of Jane off to her formal.
Burgundy fishnets instead of stripy socks!
Very nice!!
very chic!
That is gorgeous! Oh wish I could sew! I can quilt but sewing is a whole foreign language to me!! Great job!
Chele
Oh I didn't make the dress - I simply altered it to fit and suit properly. As you can see the bra cups are darker than the rest of the bodice? I added in black inserts behind them because Jane was feeling a bit exposed. Shortened shoulder straps etc. Also taught her how to move and walk and make herself comfortable while wearing it.
Wow she looks great! love the dress, love the shoes and how the jewellery echoes the shoulder straps, great outfit!
Wish I had the ankles to wear shoes like those.
Oh ditto - as you can probably tell from my tastes - I am soooo jealous she can look so fantastic in that whole ensemble!
If I were 14 again, I would choose exactly that to wear. It is the perfect outfit!
At 14, I had the shape for it and the ankles....
At 14, I'd have worn this, too - except I was considered such a geek, nobody ever asked me to a dance :(
Well Jane isn't 14 - she's 18 and this is the big end of school formal event. I think you Americans call this your Prom?
Yeah, Prom - the one I went to had the so-over-used Gone With The Wind theme. I borrowed a big fluffy dress from a girl who had been pregnant the year before - it fit my chest. And that's the most memorable part of the whole evening. Don't miss those days at all... except possibly the ability to stay up all night and not be out of sorts for a week.
What a beautiful combination - she looks wonderful! I hope she had a good time at the formal to go with it!
Actually she was a bit disappointed - so many of her friends saw it as an excuse to get as drunk as possible, rather than an excuse to dance and party.
Oh well.
Sounds like things haven't changed much in 21 years... sadly.
Nope - reminds me of my formal too - and her mum's :) :) :)
That's too bad :(. My class wasn't terribly into that, so we did dance and party at our formal. But I do know that the classes before and after us were definitely more into the whole "get drunk" thing instead.
A lot of kids turn 18 in their final year of school - the legal age to start drinking - so for many of them, (especially those with restrictive parents) the formal is their first drinking binge.
Hence the "lets see how fast we can give ourselves alcoholic poisoning and need to get rushed to hospital to get our stomachs pumped and isn't this hilarious".
Needless-to-say I wasn't in that crowd. My parents drank responsibly and I had been allowed a glass of wine at the dinner table for a while by the time I turned 18 - so there was no thrill or adventure in alcohol for me like there was for some of them.
Hey there, how about a Christmas update on your boy?? Please....
I didn't get to see him on the weekend -things just didn't pan out. I hope either Alison and family are coming over here tomorrow (Boxing Day) or Dad and I are going over there. I'll put up pics as soon as I get there and see him ....
I can wait...just so glad to know he's happy.
He's very happy and very very domesticated - the complete opposite to what he was here. He's Alison's shadow when she's home - loves following her around the house, sleeping on her lap and curling up with her at night. She loves him to bits too - so it really is a match made in heaven for both of them!
Thought I would head here first to remind myself how he looked before....still a little thin and not too fluffy.
Whoa...filled out and so fluffy...look at that sleek coat!
\alison really has my admiration for this.
Oh Mel, he looks so different, sniff!!
Such shiny fur and so contented too..
He really is filling out:) It's wonderful.
Bandit has lost a lot of weight too !!!!
He still has the same eyes !!! those gorgeous orange eyes .....
He looks SO much different and better, Mel! Such a happy little cat! Looks like he'll never really grow big though. Sweet kitty!
this is how my Sarah used to look like! Just slimmer :-)
Probably lost that weight playing with Lothario, LOL!
No I don't think he will grow any bigger. He hard too hard a life on the streets so his growth was stunted at a crucial stage. He is sooo happy and content now though !!! He has indeed fallen into kitty cat heaven - and he's just the cat Alison wanted, warm, affectionate, sleeps with her, sits on her lap - it really is a wonderful match for both of them.
I've just uploaded some more pics. The other cat Bandit. The two dogs Tane and Charlie. The teenager Jane :) :)
They were touching noses when I lifted the camera so this is the guilty look !!!!!
Good grief....that's a tail and a half!
Is that "his" chair now?
He's so relaxed!
Awww! Now he knows what he was missing....
HaHa! Cute!
There's some hound dog eyes for ya!
He's looking really great and very happy. He's certainly fallen on his feet.
Updated pics of Alison and Jane at Alison's Birthday. Also my last night with them both before the move. 29 August 2008.
Amazing tail!
How cruel to give Alison Typhoid Fever PMSL
She does look great!
Well she was travelling overseas you see.
It was only New Zealand but still .....
She hated me taking those photos! She'll lose all her Goth/Emo cred if her friends ever see these pics :)
Emo maybe, Goth, no....
Jane is a Goth Girl - thru and thru - and she carries it off well!
