French Knots
Stitched 20 Feb 2011
Photo was taken out in the sunlight, so it shows the colours of the fabric better :)
THis is a specialty stitch stitch-a-long run by Abi Gurden in the Stitch Specialists group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheStitchSpecialists/

Looks interesting - can't wait to see stitches :)
The colors are great.. and the specialty stitch bit sounds intriguing - I can't wait to see more.
Good luck with the specialty stitches.
Great start! Can't wait to see more!!
Must be winter or something cus the tree looks sort of barren.
Ok went to the group and saw the tree, definitely not winter but really going to be gorgeous when done! Great start!
So far so good - I'm going to be watching this one with interest!
You can always come along and join us. Offer applies to anyone else too.
Very nice - will all the leaves be made from different specialty stitches?
Ewww, looking really nice!!
Very pretty! Smyrna's are definitely high on my list of favorite stitches!
Yep - that's why the project is called Tree of Stitches :) A good small design to practice specialty stitches on. And different from the ubiquitous band sampler :)
Me too - however I don't think that project includes my all-time favourite - Jessica's :)
I love the look of Jessica's but I'm currently in favor of changing the name..
I presume there's a Jessica in your life whom you wish wasn't ?? Many hugs!
I can do knots, just don't know if they are actually French when I get done with 'em :) But beads are definitely my preference, too :) this looks really cool, though, so good job getting through them - I love that variegated floss!

Very nice! Wish I had mine done yet, but so far still didn't get to them :-(
Looks perfect to my eyes, Mel!
Beautiful work, Mel! I do knots - but I do Colonial instead of French.. they're more consistent and less frustrating for me. Beads are always an option, too!
I've got to admit, when I read through the instructions I couldn't see much difference between the French and Colonial Knots except that Colonial go through the fabric next to the original hole, instead of back through the original hole.
I normally just bead whenever Knots are called for :)
