Stitching Related Goals for 2011

Yep, even with 2010 being what it was, I'm still making some goals for 2011.  Admittedly these aren't life-consuming stressful goals.

  • Keep up with my stitching commitments and not commit to anything else until I complete the commitments I have. This is where I am letting others down as well as myself. Kay's RR is being worked on now, and Rosanne's (which is due to be posted in Feb) is already here.  Also I have shamefully long overdue stitching to be done for Laura and Hilary.
  • Stitch and finish Mariann's birthday present. A couple of years ago Mariann specially made up for me instructions and a kit to start Hardanger or drawn thread work. There is now a person coming to the Colours Down Under friday night sessions who does a lot of this stuff and has agreed to help all of us through starting with hardanger and drawn thread.  My project for this get-together will be Mariann's Birthday present.
  • Decide to either fully join in BAPXS and other stitching groups again, or to leave. This half-assed crap that I'm doing with yahoogroups is not conducive to anything productive. On a related note - is anyone interested in taking over the Wednesday Wobble as I've really let that aspect down too.
  • Finish presents I have started for other people. i'm thinking here mainly of Wild Thing for Alison and Ash for Kim, but I'm sure there are a few others buried deep in the WIP pile.
  • Finish at least one Chatelaine project.  This will most likely be Midi Mystery 1 or Mystery IX but I have a few others kitted up so you never know.
  • Start and finish at least two new projects, one from Inkcircles and one from Cross Eyed Kat.  I have the projects in mind, I just have to rummage through my stash to *find* the charts, threads and fabric.

Sounds rather reasonable, Mel!

Don't worry about the WW. We can open it and let everyone bring in a question or we can ask to collect questions. Even if there isn't a question every week, it's good to keep it in the back of our minds... I can take it on, but I'm not too reliable that I won't forget. If I don't forget, I'll never know what questions to ask :-(

I sent Kay a handful of questions to share the burden of "what to ask" a month or so ago. I can't commit to posting them (same as above, my life is so erratic, I have enough trouble committing to work responsibilies). I think there was enough for a month or two of weekly Q's.

Don't worry about doing the stitching for me, if it is too much just send it back, I hate to think of it adding to your problems

I'vot Julies questions so I( can post them if you like. I've just help start a new yahoo group specifically for people who wish to do specialty stitches including hardanger. Mariann is a member (and a super one too) so if anyone wants to join or if you feel it might help its called The Stitch Specialists.

On another note, many many thanks for the absolutely gorgeous pressie which arrived yesterday. We hadn't had any mail for 3 weeks and then, when the ice finally melted we had tons. I lOVE the bag; and yes, its definitely me. The chart is one that I have oggled for so long now and I keep looking at it and trying to fit it in my schedule. Perhaps its a case of to hell with schedule. Happy New year hun. May this year bring you peace, good health and happiness. xx

WW - I have the dual problem of forgetting when it is Wednesday and thinking of any new questions :/ I hope my memory returns to me one day. However if we do have a stack of questions already ready to be asked (Thanks Jules!!!!), I could set up automated emails to send one out per week, that might help. Otherwise, Kay if you feel comfortable in taking it on, I'm happy to hand it over to you again :)

Speaking of BAPXS should we open up to the list members a few questions, like the Wednesday wobble and some of the offshoot groups and see if anyone wants us to keep these open or perhaps we could close a few.

Kay - thanks for letting me know your parcel arrived, I was getting a little worried about international mail :) The chart and threads are replaceable but the bag is not :) And thanks for the invite to the group - it looks like it could be a lot of fun, and the SAL is in such small increments it shouldn't impact on any other stitching projects.

Hilary - if you want your project back now, let me know and i will post it this week. If you aren't in a hurry, then I will stitch the cats on it and then send it back later in the year. Just let me know which you would prefer.

It is up to you Mel, I just don't want to put any pressure on you

I haven't heard anything about the RR since I mailed Julie's to Laura in November. Is one of the ones you are working on the one I am supposed to have now? No hurry, I am just concerned about lost packages. And thanks for the card and the flossies. They were waiting for me when I returned from a 10 day trip to Florida, I just have been trying so hard to get caught up on Crap that I forgot to post a thank you.

I think this is a great list - I think we should just write off last year, with your health issues, my slump, etc - I think it was a strange year for a lot of us, for whatever reason.

And thank you, also, for my card & threads - it arrived late last week, and having just gotten over the flu, I'm playing catch-up, still...

Yep, I'm in the "let's write off 2010" club; it was deinitely a difficult year for a bunch of folks I know. I think your list sounds entirely reasonable.

I agree! Let's officially toss 2010 in the bin. It didn't happen, wasn't here, don't know what you're talking about {whistling innocently} {shifty eyes} {toes the last of 2010 under the rug}

Sisu - Kay's RR is the one I was supposed to have posted to you last November. That's why I'm working my butt off now to get it to you as soon as possible. Hopefully even by the weekend .... All the cross stitching is done, just the backstitching to go.

And thanks everyone for letting me know the cards arrived. I think everyone understands why there were cards this year :)

I am officially casting my vote for tossing 2010 in a bin. DH's family was hit hard with illnesses this year. I think they would like to put that behind them. Especially since those affected are still not cured. It would be nice to start 2011 with some good news.

I'll add 2010 to the bin. Not that I had a particularly bad year, but it won't live in my memory for any particular reason. In the spirit of the group. Bin it!!

Another "get rid of 2010" vote here as well! I spent most of the year unable to stitch for varous medical reasons and I was NOT happy!

Good grief..did anyone have a good 2010?
Ours was shit and 2011 doesn't look much better at the moment.

I will jump on the bandwagon of getting rid of 2010! It was a terrible year for me and things are finally getting a tad better. Hence the reason I am able to post! If anyone, knows telepathically, where the devil I put my Visual Mate 2 last January please let me know so when time presents itself, I might be able to actually stitch this year!
