Fire Flower - finished!

Yes its my second finish for the week - yee haa !!!!!  Pics in FireFlower album and Finished Pieces.

Pity I've got to go to work tomorrow and Sunday - but then I have another five days off before going back to work full time.  Doubt I'll get another finish done before I go back though :)

Oh hang on I might, P's giving me a hand to move some boxes tomorrow night so I can find the things that Tracy asked for so I might have one of her items finished shortly.

So what do I work on next?  Singularity? Faïence (The Castle)? Dutch Beauty? Midi Mystery I?  A new start ???

All suggestions welcome - I'm off to bed shortly.

Oh Marc and Tracy - I'll try to get a better pic of FireFlower on Sunday morning outside with my camera.  The scanner bed here has a tendency to wash out the black to a grey background.

WONDERFUL... Love it.... Be sure to include the fab color/ct and threads used...(I know you've probably already mentioned them but at my "advanced" age I get a lot CRS lately...LOL....

It's beautiful, Mel! I hope to finish up Quaker a 6 Mains this next time in rotation, so I can start this next - it's going to be a Secret project until I know how it's going to turn out - no pics until I know I haven't made a mess of it!

And I think you should work on Dutch Beauty, just because I want to see more!

Its OK Marc - I'm just over half your age (ouch am I mean or what?) so I'll remember to include the information :)

I'm off to work shortly and Paul is over tonight helping me move boxes so I'll think of something for tomorrow morning .....

I am on holidays :) Long story short version, it is in my contract that I work one weekend per month. And I didn't have enough leave to cover the time nor loss of overtime rates.

Lovely finish! The colours are so pretty. Just need Denise to finish hers now :)
Can't believe the vacation is almost over, sigh!

Mel, lovely!! Didn't realise your holidays had gone so quickly!! Any luck with the job hunting??

Oh Mel, this turned out fantastic!

I am still waiting on my chart and the two new skeins of Laura's Garden. I only got one and then thought to ask Kitt how many skeins she used. So I reordered the skeins so I get the same dye lot.

With sneaking Augusta 13 into my stitching mix, I probably won't be able to start this one, or anything else for that matter, for quite some time! Baltazar, Roses, and Augusta are all HUGE!!!

it looks wonderful, Mel!! Congrats on the lovely finish. Time to go back to work already? Then I vote for a new start. Need to maintain that euphoria as long as possible!!

Well its currently 5am here and I can't sleep - so when I do go back to bed I will probably sleep in until its time to go to work - so no stitching today I'm afraid. I've decided to start back in on Faïence on Monday for the week - he's let me know he's been ignored for long enough .....

I have Mon-Sat as the rest of my holidays and then its back into it with a vengeance next Sunday {sigh} Whilst catching up on three weeks worth of emails I found one from my boss telling me that's he's changing my job again. Apparently I will no longer be Branch Librarian for NP, I will instead be a relief librarian, based at E (the closest one to home) but working at whichever branch needs me for the day every day of the week. So we will see how that pans out. He still needs to talk to me officially about it and I can complain to HR if I don't like it, but to be honest the only thing that I love about NP is the Housebound customers, and if I refuse to change jobs, he can take Housebound off me anyway ..... and he cannot take my pay away. No matter what level he busts me down to, he cannot reduce my wages .... so there's one good thing I guess and no idea if its temp or permanent - I'll find out the exact details when I get back to NP on week Monday.

I have three job apps in at the moment, all with Universities in Sydney. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My best friend in the organisation (the senior cataloguer) is also going for the same positions - but hey there are three jobs and only two of us, so you never know. I also have a different skills set from her - she's more experienced at the cataloguing and Technical side, but I've got a more-rounded background with my work in all facets of library work in the past few years ... so we will see.

This week I intend to spend each morning surfing for jobs, each afternoon spring cleaning (one room per day) and then the nights stitching Faïence. I figure that will be a good rounding out of my four weeks off.

But god it would be good to be called in for an interview this week .....

Thanks all for your lovely comments on Fire lower - it really was a good design to stitch - just a pity that it took me so long to finish it off ......

My fingers are crossed on you getting an interview!

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks sweetheart - my fingers are crossed that I won tonight's lotto - cause then I wont have to go to work ever and I can get more stitching done :) And visit some far-flung friends :)

Claire EJ said...

And those far flung friends would love to have you to stay.

Will be good for you to NOT be working at NP every day!!! Let's hope the guy in charge while you've been off hasn't f**ked up too much.

Huge good lucks with the job hunting and the lotto too!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Oh he's getting moved too :) So yes I'd say he has indeed f**cked up while I've been away - either way I'm not worryng about it until week Monday when I walk in those doors :)

As to the rest - somehow I think my chances of an interview are much much higher than my odds of winning Lotto :)

Thanks for your support :)

Mariann Mäder said...

It looks fantabulous, Mel!

I agree with Claire - the far-flung friends would love to have you stay. But since that is probably not going to happen in the very near future I'm rather crossing my stitches, fingers, toes etc for you to get that interview and maybe win the lotto, LOL

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks Mariann :)

Well done! Its wonderful!

Paula Hubert said...

Still sending lots of "Hire Mel" thoughts in your direction! :) And here's a third "Far Flung Friend" who would love to have you stay if you came up with that winning ticket (or even if you didn't and were able to visit! lol)

Looks wonderful! and Cambridge would love to see you too!

Melissa Hicks said...

Oh trust me ladies, you would certainly be n the itinerary and I would bring you all presents !!!!

Well done! That came out so pretty. It is neat to see all the different versions of these. And I've yet to see a Carrie's color that didn't come out nice. Let me know when you have a photo ready for Mrc's gallery (or I can just steal this one;-) Cheers!

Melissa Hicks said...

Tracy - steal the one off the finished pics album - or let me know and I will email it to you - it is a *much* better pic than this one.
