Paula Hubert said...

Congrats on the finish! Maybe I should hint to your mum that it would be worth her while to visit that weekend? lol

Melissa Hicks said...

Added in a pic of my secret train project.

Hope to have this finished soon and framed way before Mother's Day rolls around - May in Australia.

As can be seen Denise/Mum is excluded from looking at this album :)

Karen R said...

Well, this is cool - I think I like this one the best so far; must be the red...

Melissa Hicks said...

Well if you like red you would like Mayet - one of the first of the I did.

Nicely done....you've ade quite a lot of progress on this one!

Shawn Medrano said...

I really like the look of this one Mel! Sorry the gold took so long; I think it's the color....lol

Karen R said...

Yeah, I remember that one - still like this one the best :) These have to just look amazing all hung together!

Claire EJ said...

Going well:)

Paula Hubert said...

Great work - and it took me a minute to realize when I pulled the album up that it's limited because these were for Denise. DOH! (Monday is hitting HARD here in NY this week lol)

Melissa Hicks said...

Not enough done this week :( oh well ....

Karen R said...

Yeah, but it looks really great! I think it's the curvy lines on it that are really drawing me in - it has great movement.

Paula Hubert said...

It's visible progress, though, Mel! Congrats! (And sometime sleep and friends are what we need, too!)

Paula Hubert said...

She's Gawjus! (trademark Claire). I love the colors in her!

Melissa Hicks said...

PMSL !!!!! Another I learned from Claire.

Karen R said...

Yep, this is definitely my favorite of these so far!!!! Very cool!

Claire EJ said...

LOL...stolen from the fabulous Vamp.

Claire EJ said...

Looking so good! lovely work on what looks more complex than I expected...neat!

Melissa Hicks said...

Its certainly taking a lot longer than I expected !!!! Usually these take me two weeks to stitch - I've been working on this one on and off since November .....

Claire EJ said...

That is a long time for you. Does look so good though and She will love it.

Melissa Hicks said...

She'd better! LOL !!!

I've put it down for the weekend and am trying to get a motor on on BoInk - I'll pick this up again during the week and see if I can get it to the framers next Saturday.

Melissa Hicks said...

She's finished she's finished she's finished !!!!!!!

Wooo Hooo !!!!! Now lunch and the BoInk !

Claire EJ said...

Wahoo!!!!!!! Congrats, you:) Looks fab of course...it will be cherished.

Karen R said...

That is awesome!!! WooHoo!!!!!

Melissa Hicks said...

As mum has now received and opened both Tutankhamen and Nefartari - I've now opened this album up for everyone.

Mariann Mäder said...

Strange view of Nefertiti for me :-) With her name I always associate the famous bust in the Berlin museum.

This looks good! Very nice fabric!

Melissa Hicks said...

Yeah - he has different interpretations of each of the famous figures - I thought his Tutankhamen was *quite* bland ......

Mariann Mäder said...

We get such simplified images sometimes. These different interpretations just put the persons into a more natural perspective. I actually think that's probably more lifelike

kay jones said...

Well done on another finish. Fortunately not my cup of tea so I dont have to drool too much.:))

Melissa Hicks said...

Here's the weekend's stitching on Anubis. I'll get back to it this weekend. I hope to have it finished in time to take it to the framers next pay day :)

Karen R said...

Wow, very nice!! Gee, how many of these do you have?

Melissa Hicks said...

These are the last two - Anubis & Ra-Harakhte. And then we are finished :)

Melissa Hicks said...

I ran out of Copper thread - need to remember to hunt some down over the weekend ....

Lori M. said...

Wow, you've made a lot of progress over the weekend. It looks fantastic!!!

Lori M. said...

Your back is very neet!! I like the fabric that you're stitching on. I must have a ton of the same myself, LOL!

Melissa Hicks said...

14ct Aida Rustico :) The scariest part is that it is the "right" fabric for the charts!

kay jones said...

Its disgustingly neat. I've got some of that fabric and I cannot get on with it. My eyes simply cant cope with the pattern on it which is stupid really cos black I dont have a problem with.

Melissa Hicks said...

Mum can't stitch on opalescent fabric because the metallics confuse the holes for her.

I have the dickens of a time trying to stitch on PTP evenweave because the threads are so thick I cannot see the holes.

I think we've all got that *one* fabric that frustrates us :)

Melissa Hicks said...

Its not that good. Not compared to Sisu or Claire or Mayte!

Its also a much much simpler pattern than your Cocker Spaniel!

Mariann Mäder said...

Looks great! You've done a lot at once :-)

Mariann Mäder said...

Easy to stay neat when you don't have any confetti (grins). But I'm sure you're aware of that, too.

On such occasions my backs are neat as well. Otherwise I don't mind the criss-cross of threads going under the stitches to be carried elsewhere or the abundance of tiny threads left from snipping the pinheads :-)

Melissa Hicks said...

Yup - as I said to Kay - this is a much simpler pattern than many!

Karen R said...

Yeah, wait until you see what I put up on the group Backside album... :)

Melissa Hicks said...

Lady and the Unicorn?

Karen R said...

:) If I can just get to it...

kay jones said...

Oooh lovely. Another backside with confetti. I'm beginning to get hooked on backsides after seeing Jodie's which I thought looked so colourful and creative.

See, I told you I was weird

Melissa Hicks said...

Well d'uh! Why do you think we love you so much !!!!!

Frishawn Rasheed said...

Great finish!

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks Frishawn - I pick it up from the framers this afternoon ....

Melissa Hicks said...

And its now collected, posted and mum has received and unwrapped it - so "ready for framing" pic being moved from this foler to the Finished 2008 folder.
