Family

Yes I am an Auntie again apparently.

I sent a gift and it was very much "squee-ed" over.

Christmas presents sent for both offspring.  Auntie duties over for another year.

Congratulations! Well done Aunty Mel

WooHoo!! I was able to do Aunt-stuff for a year or two, before I had kids of my own to hog all the resources...

Kids are not in my own future for a variety of reasons. I'm happy to do the aunty thing. Unfortunately I can't find size 0 clothing in black.

No goth baby clothing available? sigh...
Congrats to Sis.. and to you for becoming an auntie again.

Melissa Hicks said...

Even my dad asked why I didn't send Goth Baby clothing - with black eyeliner and black lipstick ....

Had to point out to dad that I don't wear makeup.

His response: I bet you are dressed in head to toe in complete black aren't you.

hmmm... ummm yep. I am. I'm so predictable ....

Congrats on becoming an Auntie again, Mel. I've already left most of my auntie duties behind, LOL!

What type of little human is it?

Melissa Hicks said...

Oh sorry - male.

Apparently smaller, shorter, more petite and cuter than Jeremiah.

Mariann Mäder said...

LOL! Was that an account of your mum's?

You won't run there in a rush, will you?

Melissa Hicks said...

Yes that is definitely mum's description and no - I'll happily live vicariously through mum;s descriptions and photos :)

I know I disappoint her in my lack of maternal instinct but well I yam what I yam ....\\{as I give Trubs a huge cuddle}

Yay! I can't wait until I am an auntie too (any day now : ) )

Congrats on being an auntie. Black isavailable for babies or at least it used to be. I dressed my eldest in black as a baby (1967) and was damn near burnt at the stake

Melissa Hicks said...

So will I be because it will have to be washed separately {evil grin}

Prol'y ought to check out this link: http://tinyurl.com/6asfqq

I have one of these local, so if you need some shopping (if they don't ship to you), let me know - I was just in there, looking for Big Kid stuffs...

You don't? at all? really? eep!

Melissa Hicks said...

Never.

Claire EJ said...

Unbelievable....truly.....sighhhhh...

Rosanne Derrett said...

Neither do I ever wear slap Claire. I'm with Mel on this one.

Claire EJ said...

Not even mascara and/or lippy??

Sheesh, my girls just aren't girly girls at all...sighs...

Claire EJ said...

Dunno really, just thought with so many things being similar that would be too...

Rosanne Derrett said...

Not a hope. I'm sorry but I am not a girly girl. Getting me into a skirt requires threats of actual bodily harm. As for warpaint now tht would take a total personality transplant

I went a lot of years without wearing any - and have a lot of years with. Currently, I only wear it to work, since it's kind of expected here (it goes with the hair & work clothes). And I wear more than I like because of the acne - I want to hide the blemishes, which also causes some of the new ones. But I don't do lipstick - I tried, and I just hate the stuff, though can't live without my lip balm :)

Sisu Lull said...

Sorry Mum. I wear it once every couple years. Only when I am in a wedding or something. Not a girly girl here either.

Sisu Lull said...

Congrats on being an auntie again Mel!
I saw Claire Twitter that you had an eye exam. Mine was today too. Weird.
And, I must have been channeling you, because I bought a 12 ounce box of Junior Mints today.
(munch-munch-munch)

Melissa Hicks said...

{Deer in headlights}

They. Come. In. Twelves ounce Boxes ????????????????????????

Sisu Lull said...

Sure do! 12 ounces of smooth and creamy, dark chocolate coated, 10 calories per mint, decadent goodness!
(slurp, smack, munch)
Want some? (holds box up to screen)

Claire EJ said...

I don't even know what those are. Would I like them??

Claire EJ said...

OMG...good make-up is an obsession for me.
I don't wear a base every day but whenever I go out, it has to be at least mascara lipstick and spot cover up...and that's just to go to the store.
For real going out, it has to be the full face which it will be tomorrow...the works...and a skirt too!!

Sisu Lull said...

I don't know. They are a soft peppermint drop type candy with a thin, dark chocolate coating. Nice and creamy, melt in the mouth, but not overpoweringly sweet. I find them quite addictive, and I think I got Mel hooked on them too.
They probably wouldn't travel well because they are so soft, but if I send you another boxed parcel, I will try to remember to slip some in.

Claire EJ said...

Ah chocolate covered mint...eep! Not for me, thank you anyway.

Melissa Hicks said...

Ummm no. No I can honestly say .... no.

For the rare major event where I need to be dressed up to the nines, evening do, expensive dress etc, I will go to a beautician and get my face made up professionally. Other than that - nope.

I adore getting facials - but haven't been able to afford the luxury of those for a long while. I used to treat myself to a whole day hair and beauty appointment for my birthday when completely alone on that day - but I haven't done that for a good long while now either.

I don't wear makeup on a regular basis mostly because I just don't like the feel of goop on my face. It seems too much fuss and bother making sure it doesn't smear, reapplying it regularly, and you skin can't breathe .....

As for skirts and dresses. I adore wearing dresses. I don't currently own a single one. Being short-waisted and having my waist measurement two sizes smaller than my hip measurement - its very difficult to get dresses that look good on me. I am extremely fussy about my clothing and DETEST clothes shopping, so when I do find something I like I will wear it to death.

Shopping for dresses is such an abysmally depressing and frustrating experience that I just refuse to do it anymore.

{whimper}

I hate you!

Sisu Lull said...

I love you too, ROFL.

Claire EJ said...

I know that feeling....I hate being short waisted. My leg length is the same as Steve's but the body is just way too short..makes my proportions all wrong, sulks...

Sisu Lull said...

I have a fairly long body and short legs. The disadvantage to that is shirts being too short. And try finding a one piece bathing suit that doesn't saw you in half. DH is 5'4" with a 26" inseam. Very long bodied. He cant find a shirt that is long enough to cover his gut unless he buys a 2X and then it looks like a tent on him.

Melissa Hicks said...

Yup 5'2" busty and hippy. Nothing long line is ever going to work on me ......

Rosanne Derrett said...

I'm the other end of the height scale and nothing works on me neiher! I've a 34" inseam and I'm long bodied as well. Womenswear don't fit as like Mel, I'm 2 sizes smaller on my waist. I live in T shirts because the pretty blouses will never fit properly. If they fit the bust, then my shoulders bust the seams. If the shoulders fit, then the body is really baggy. It the shoulders and the bust fir, then the fabric is cut so skimpy on the sleeves that it cuts off the circulation in my arms. Oh and womens wear is never, ever ever long enough in the body and I hate my back being bare. Don't even get me started on shoes as that type of shopping is guaranteed to reduce me to gibbering wreck status! Rant over
