Mel's Sunday update

Well as you all know I started Marc's Fire Flower this week - and this is as far as I got :)

A broken down freezer full of meat and Aussie summer weather made an unpleasant foray into my stitching time for a few nights this week - but I've been having a ball with this design - each of the elements flows into the next one - it is a stitcher's' dream!

I really didn't like the thread I chose when I first started - and I finally figured out why - the colour change is much faster than in the thread Marc used for his model. I was figuring this would be the slow languid change of colour as his was - but instead it seems to jump and leap in sashes from burgundy to olive to straw .... Now that I've done more of the design, I've decided I love this thread after all !!!!

Details:
Chart: Fire Flower by Marc Davis
Threads: Almost Autumn limited edition by Carrie's Threads
Fabric: 32ct Black Belfast linen
Style: All done in two threads over two - including the backstitching.
Specialty fibres: kindly donated by Troublecat.

Onto TW's The Castle SAL for the next week ......

If I'd have had Friday day stitching and Tuesday and Wednesday nights for stitching I would have gotten much further :) But oh well - that's the way it goes sometimes ...

I can't believe how fast you all are getting through this one! Looking great, and I can't wait to get to mine!

Thanks all - Karen it really does stitch up quickly - the design just flows from one element to the next .....

Wow! You're way ahead of me now, Mel! I didn't get more than an hour or two in all weekend!

That is really lovely, Mel, and I think that's a good start! At least after all that horrid freezer stuff!!!

I wasn't online at all over the weekend - stitched and gamed...

Melissa Hicks said...

Ah but Mariann what did you stitch and was the gaming fun ????

Stitched on A Night Alone :-) I'm busy filling the gap between the faces and the curtain - with more curtain and Remus' hair. I did get some progress but not enough to warrant a photo.

Gaming - Sims 2... Must take care and not get addicted, LOL. Most games today turn me off rather, but this one is actually quite fun (unless your Sims don't do as you tell them...)

Headache today, construction work going on in the building here at the office, not much work to do, yucky day!!

Paula Hubert said...

Ugh, Mariann! Hugs your way for the headache. And all I will say is that there is a *reason* that Sims2 isn't on my new laptop. lol

LOL - got respective experience then? I have to say that once I know my ways around them really well it probably starts to bore me...

Headache still lingering - just there to nag and get on my nerves, but not bad enough to really complain loudly. But it makes so listless!! Concentration is hard, too

Many Many hugs of sympathy Mariann !!! How long will the construction work go on for?

i understand about the Sims, I did the same thing when Civilisation 4 came out :)

Construction works until end of March :-( The worst is that the company, which moved in last year already had construction works done then for about four months! Now their top floor decided that this office was to be the pilot project for a new consulting service and everything has to be redone once again. Less than a year after they built a perfect new office (on two floors). It's Postfinance, which is where I store my money... If I didn't despise banks the way I do I would consider changing. But Postfinance is very present everywhere, has a really good service and I wouldn't like to do it.

Thanks for the hugs! Must have been able to feel them, because I've been able to sleep away most of my headache last night!

I'm glad the headache is getting better Mariann - but grrrr on the company doing the construction work! this is not what you need to happen!!

Glad the headache is pretty much gone! The construction stuff is soo annoying - they plan on doing similar work here - and in the server room right off my office. I plan on working from home those days (I'm lucky that I can do so!).

Yeah - Sims2 took up huge chunks of my time when I had it on my old laptop - nothing else got done, it seemed!
