My late godfather used to be a type setter (still on lead) and I remember being in the office of our printing business when it still used this type of setting, standing there and watching how he composed texts letter by letter. Unfortunately I was still a very small girl when he died :-(
From back in the day when even a machine was made aesthetically pleasing :) What happened to that? Of course, back then, everyone was a craftsman, not an assembler. I'm a craftsman, and could never get the difference across to one of my fellow floor supervisors, which is part of why I don't work there anymore :)
