I amuse myself

Coming home on the train today I had a young man sitting next to me with his iPod on sooo loud I could easily sing along with the lyrics.

After 10 mins or so I tapped him on the shoulder and said, "excuse me, could you please turn your music down a little?"

He sneered!  Sneered ????  and said "wassa matta with decent music?"

Deadpan I responded:

The album you are playing is The Arockalypse by the band Lordi.  You are just finishing track 6.  Track 7 is their most famous song Hard Rock Hallelujah.  It contains lots of screaming and I have a splitting headache.

He looked at me {standard corporate black work clothing}.  The he looked at what I was stitching - the oh so cute Jasper above.

I saw his brain freeze.

He turned his iPod completely off for about 15 minutes.  He later turned it back on but very quietly and I believe he had changed albums .....

PS as you can see I've got a lot of the background on Jasper done this week :)

Jasper is looking so very cute.

And go you wrt the guy with the ipod. I'll bet you totally floored him with that knowledgeable response. Go girl!

The scary thing is I'm the only person I know who listens to Lordi - apart from my sweetie that is :) :)

Looks like an ideal train project, Mel! I stitched some, too, today and got almost two lengths of thread into my latest little Hardanger project. Yesterday I even cut a section on the project. Didn't mis-cut once!!!

Jasper looks like a feisty one to me. Quite sweet (but you know I wouldn't be caught dead stitching him, LOL!)

Woot on the no cutting on the hardanger! I have done some in the past and I have panicked whenever I get to that stage!

I love the yellow on Jasper. And great comeback!! I NEVER think of great things to say until after I am away from the situation.

I can just imagine his face - good for you being able to make that come-back.

It was just a fluke that I happened to know that album :)

But well worth it for the response it engendered!, I reckon I would just have sat there fuming and wondering if they were going to get off at the next stop (actually probably begging anyone listening to make them get off at the next stop!)

Jasper looks great..
How fun that you amused yourself and gobsmacked a twit at the same time.

TeeHee! Don't you just love it when you can do that? Of course, I would then have had to jump up, do a Schwarzenegger flex, and declare "That's why I am the Trivial Pursuit Champion of the Universe!!!!", and sit back down quietly and begin to stitch again. But that's just one of my little quirks :) Jasper looks great!!

That had to be a fun train ride. :) It's always fun when you can stump someone like that. lol Jasper is looking wonderful and since he's so close to finishing, whatcha got lined up next?? ;)

ROFL - great one, Gothy! {High fives all around}.
Jasper looks good, too.

Mariann - you didn't do the cutting on the train did you? {Paula trembles at the thought given her personal comfort level with cutting}

Melissa Hicks said...

Paula's question to me equates with "You didn't bungee jump *there* did you ????

I can't get my head around bungee jumping (or cutting threads) at all - let alone where Mariann was to do it ;) :)

I'll start boning up now :)

Great comeback Mel, I wish I could be that fast on my feet! And I suck at Trivial Pursuit unless there are some science questions here or there.....

Great progress on Jasper Mel! How much more do you have to do on this one?

Great job sticking it to the guy on the train. I really miss your Tales of the Commuter! I looked forward to those!

I am glad you got your confidence back Gothy, and it is funny how it happened to be an album you knew.

About a zillion hours of backstitching - which I *cannot* do on the train - so who knows when this will actually get finished.

LOL - you amused the heck out of me too! :) Nicely done.
