Just wrong ......

I was caught short yesterday when Mother Nature decided to visit a day early and I didn't have my supplies at work with me. So I end up with not my usual brand.

Here I am sitting on a toilet, feeling crappy, trying to clean up blood and wondering if menstruation is an adequate defence for murder - gruesome, horrible messy murder ..... when I open to packet to see this ...

What the flip is the purpose of this ?????????

Am I supposed to think "oh wow - that's interesting? I think I'll go back to work with a smile on my face and relate some of these interesting facts to my co-workers"

I'm a librarian you stupid marketing people !!!!! We don't do "interesting facts" without a response of:

Where's your bibliography?
Show me your empirical data?
Do you know this for sure or is another case of Disney and Lemmings?
Do we need to send this to Mythbusters ??????

{pant, pant}

Copious amounts of chocolate reduces the homicidal rages. I'm going back to finish my breakfast bowl of Cocoa Puffs now ......

Written and produced by MEN.....no brain, no sense....stupid men who think that women with the monthly hormonal rage won't come after them in their stupid little offices....men who are wrong.

Woo hoo !!!! I love it when someone else joins in my rants :) Hope it helped improve your mood honey !!!!

I've finally found something better than the statement (by Always here in the US in a similar location) "Have a happy period"! WTF??? Obviously, if you've ever HAD one, you'd know that "happy" is the absolute LAST word I'd ever use about any of this!!

(Yep, I believe that men come up with this crap and that they have no idea that if any woman ever finds out that they were the one who thought up these rediculous things, they'd not live to admit it twice!)

The one that really gets me and I wont post pics for obvious reasons is the one that has a damask weave in the top, so as you bleed, it brings out little butterfly patterns on the top of the pad .....

Euwwwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!!!!!!!

Paula Hubert said...

{shudder} that is just rediculous beyond belief! I don't even have a smart assed remark for that!

It weirded me out - I had to change brands !

However I still love Ursula's take on it all ..... even if she is discussing tampons instead of pads:

ROTFLMAO I love that! And would buy them in a heartbeat! Heh - mental image of slamming a package down on the counter and giving the clerk one of those "I dare you to say a WORD!" looks.

LOL Maybe we should start a campaign !!!!!!

Some, uh, interesting facts there, lol. Just the kind of thing you'd wanna know, right?

How sweet.....sweet in an evil man minded way....yuck......

Love the Blackbeard add, have never seen the other ones you discussed. Past that stage now thank goodness!!!!!!!!!!

Well, as a confirmed user of tampons I happen to agree with the lady, but there's a but for me:

They don't market tampons with specifically girly over- or undertones around this place. The approach here in central Europe is more medical and deals with the facts, so I've never seen anything but white tampons in normal looking boxes. Never cared for pads at all... especially since I have a tendency to bleed heavily at night, which forces me to have something really safe, because I'm not always waking up.

On the other hand (and that will probably piss you ladies off quite a bit) I'm really keeping a natural relation with my periods. They're not always pleasurable, but heck, it's nature.

And am I completely out of line when I say that for me sex is best when my hormones are on the low? When I'm REALLY in the mood AND I react a lot faster, then I know my period will start a day or two later...

Periods, meh. Can't say I am thrilled about them. I don't have a lot of the issues that others have, but I certainly don't enjoy them. I do agree that the Always slogan of "Have a Happy Period" is just assinine. Like strapping a matress between your legs is going to make the cramps, bloating, mood swings, exhaustion and just plain 'yuck' go away. As far as the little facts on Mel's interim brand, WTF? Like in the middle of wondering if your guts are turning inside out you really feel the urge to read a feminine hygiene product package. It is stupid. I think Mariann's country has the right idea. It is medical. White boxes suit me just fine. I don't need flowers and butterflies. I just need to be able to wake up in the morning without my bed looking like a trauma ward gurney.

I think we should start an anti-marketing campaign :) Is that even possible?

Feel better, Mel - I'm starting on my second one in 3 weeks, and I can only attribute it to the fact that I have increased my beef intake lately, as I've been freakin' hungry for it. Sure wish we could stop jamming our food sources full of chemicals.... Or that I had time and space to raise my own organically....

Just before I had the hysterectomy and the whole new period free life...Bodyform produced their usual towels with a cute little tin attached. It's the size of a small square towel and the depth of
two towels...the perfect needle holder. I bought three tins, tossed the towels:) But...get this...I don't have periods any more obviously but I still get the poxy PMS, the head pressure shit monthly,
everything but the bleeding...weird.

Melissa Hicks said...

Towels???

Claire EJ said...

What would you call the ugly flat things that aren't tampons?

Melissa Hicks said...

Oh - pads !!! OK thanks .....

Claire EJ said...

LOL....towels is such a nicer word !

Melissa Hicks said...

Confusing! But then lots of things are confusing at 4:30am :) :)

Claire EJ said...

Urgh..of course, we are another hour ahead of you...that sucks and confuses me...wouldn't take much to confuse me though at the bext of times

I'm a little tired and a little depressed too. Might take Friday off as a Mental Health day and get your RR stitched so I can finally post it off. I'm wracked with guilt but I seriously haven't had the energy or time to lift a needle since Easter with everything else going on ...

Claire EJ said...

I like how you get to take "Mental Health" days...wish that kind of thing had been around a decade ago.

Melissa Hicks said...

Another name for it is "a sickie" or more realistically a flex day :) I can take one flex day per month as long as I have the hours up and with my hours I carry over a minimum of 10 hours a month ...

It took obver three hours to get home last night and S was busy so no phone call ..... I think I'm just tired and coming down from all the stress form the P thing .... that stress seems to be definitely over now .....

Claire EJ said...

Buzz says mwo-ow.....must cut his claws.

Flex days are good. I know you said the journey had taken hours longer than it should.
I always used to find the week or two after a holiday that stress was a real downer....
{{{Gothy}}}

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks sweetie :) ) I'll be fine - now to make the nightmares go away too and I'll be all set.

Trubs mrows back to Buzz and give him a head butt .....

I'm off to work now. Catch you in a couple of hours if you are still around.

Claire EJ said...

Will be back on line in about 2 1/2 or so...safe journey.

Melissa Hicks said...

I'm cold. I'm hungry. I'm here.

Claire EJ said...

Yeah, I read about the cold...that's way too cold for one end of the line to the other...brrr

Melissa Hicks said...

Had breakfast now - and teasing Jim over on your blog has improved my mood too :)

Claire EJ said...

I know...Jim's fab...great target with a wonderful sense of humour even if he is whining...never mind...Jen should be with him full time by late June and he'll be much hapier then.
I just reminded him that he has his own little posse...

Mariann Mäder said...

That's because the hormones are still there and will be there still for a while. The hysterectomy just took out the "hardware" so to speak, the "software", the hormones, will take a little longer to get out of your system :-)

Mariann Mäder said...

Been cold for months... no problem with the hungry though.

Hope you are better over all! I know when I have my period I'm always touchy in everything - colder, more headachey, more everything negative and less everything positive. Not a happy camper at all then.

((((extra hugs for Mel)))))

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks sweetie - period over. I have mercifully short ones :) :)

Still taking a mental health tomorrow though - will sit and stitch Claire's RR

Mariann Mäder said...

Glad you have short ones! Mine always drag out :-((

Anyway, just when you posted this, the one colleague here at the office made a little joke:

What sits in the dark, has wings and sucks blood?

... the new Always

Melissa Hicks said...

Oh that is bad !!!!

So how was your interview?

Mariann Mäder said...

It felt alright! Only now come all the doubts, did I emphasise on all the right things? Did I say what they wanted to hear without being untruthful, etc. I'm not sure at all. They asked for my feedback next week and I will call back and tell them I'm still interested. Because the description of the job did sound interesting and a bit demanding, too. I will see what comes out of it...

If you haven't seen my reply on the list, follow this link:

http://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/portal/en/index.html

go to Institutions and in there on the left, to Structures. Look for the light blue part of the organisation, that's where the office would be...

Paula Hubert said...

Still sending good thoughts your way, Mariann! The last time I interviewed for a job, I felt like you do, and I ended up with the job. Here's to hoping that you get an offer!

Karen R said...

Good luck, Mariann!!

Melissa Hicks said...

Ditto what Paula said so here's hoping !!!!!

Thanks, guys!
