I heard from RMIT this morning. They have rescheduled the interviews for the position for Monday 28 July 2008 so that I can attend an interview in person in Melbourne.
Stephen says that the fact they have postponed all the interviews one week so that I can attend in person says that they are really impressed with my resume.
He has also already very kindly booked and paid my flights to and from Melbourne that day.
All I need to do now is inform my Director next Tuesday when I get back to work .... I presume there will be no problems with me taking the day off .....

Superb change of plans, Mel! How great is that? I fully agree with Stephen, it's a really good sign that they changed schedules to accommodate your interview to become a personal one! I'm sure that's always better than a nervous exchange of things on the phone. That's good for a first contact, but any interview person to person will leave a much more lasting impression.

Mr N T Bears is certainly a very generous and kind spirit. Also spoke with mum this afternoon and she has some thoughts and ideas on how we can practically accomplish whatever needs to be done.
Realistically I should now know one or the other about the Melbourne job within 4 weeks. Maybe within three weeks. I can hold off making any decisions regarding moving from home for 4 weeks if need be.

Thanks everyone. I n some ways this is scary because its a jump into the unknown - but in other ways it looks like the Universe is arranging things for me, whether I'm ready for it or not.
