Seeing as I'm going to Perth for 8 days and will definitely get some stitching time in (especially if its cold and rainy and Stephen's at work).

So question is, what do I take with me?

Jasper?
Black Beauty?
The Castle?

Another WIP?

Something new ???

Preferences?  Suggestions ???

Curious to see people's thoughts on this .....

BUT of course kit up something new...NOW who am I to tell you what BUT I do have some vested interest that I'd love to see stitched AND just think a whole 8 days to work on it would be great.... LOL

Well considering your text about Black Beauty the other day... I vote for something new! Or do you have enough of the supplies to make a start on Wizard's Inkwell?

PMSL !!!!! The only chart of yours that is in my stash and not stitched is Jardin d'Jour and I'm planning on stitching that on black. Yes another gaudy in-your-face Mel special :)

Stephen does not have good enough lighting for me to take a project on dark fabric ....

Oooohh good thinking 99 - I'll go and hunt down the pack this afternoon and see what's in it and what is missing ....

One of the ones I have just kitted and was considering is:

Uh, take 'em all - unless space is at issue!!! Not a damn bit of help, am I?

Do you REALLY think you'll have that much time for stitching? ;)

All of the above.

Stephen's a contractor - if he doesn't work, he doesn't get paid. so he will be at work most of the week during the days. So there will bne days where I will be on my own.

I have a few places I want to see but there will also be pretty disgusting rainy days forecast. So on the rainy cold days (we are in winter) when Stephen is at work I plan to bum around his place, sleep, nap and stitch for the day.

With everything that's going on at work, I *need* time to rest and recharge my batteries. Otherwise I am going to end up a bigger basket case than I already am (thank you Kay).

No I'm not taking everything. They have to go into my luggage, not my carry-on and I do not want to potentially lose that many projects at one time :) :)

I think I do. I am still missing the Kreinik cord and the #8 braid needed but I have just asked Amy at Down Sunshine Lane if she would special order these in and add them to my Floss of the Month Club next month.

I've had a good look at the chart and the supplies I have - and I have the hearts and stars now thanks to Laura! And I definitely have enough to start.

What I don't have is the skill set - there are Kloster blocks and Rice Stitches and modified Rhodes and Roundabout Herringbone which I have never done before and her instructions seem a bit confusing.

I might have to put up a heap of questions for Mariann when I get to each of these bits in the chart.

The starting point is the actual Inkwell in the upper left corner which is straight cross stitch - so I can at least get that started :) :) :) You've convinced me Paula, I'll pack it!

Now something else for when I get confused with this one ....

take the flipping Castle...wait til you see my next update! Took pics last night and then did even more on it. More castle towers are done. It looks amazing even if I do say so myself!

You and mum have convinced me. I have packed Faience too ...... even though I know I will never catch up to your levels of progress :) :)

Honey, I intend to FINISH Heartwood this year. If not this summer.
I have got to the point where it looks so amazing that I have to see what happens next...pack it , you never know :)

I voted for Jasper since you said you can't backstitch on the train. And Black Beauty. Something in Red needs the company.

Melissa Hicks said...

Nope! Black Beauty gave me the poops again today.

Speaking on the phone just then, Claire agreed with me that Black Beauty is a dress owned by a Drama Queen so he's consigned to the ELTWIP pile until he decides to behave!

Okay the final decision has been made and the projects packed:

Wizard's Inkwell
Faience
Jasper.

And if none of them work I will go and hunt down Janine from Colours Down Under and raid her in stock stash :) :)

Sounds good and IF you do manage to work on the Castle then perhaps I can get some inspiration and pick mine up again.

And the final votes as I zip up my suitcase for the last time .....

Its a dead heat!

Exactly one third of the votes for Jasper/Black Beauty.
Exactly one third of the votes for The Castle
Exactly one third of the votes for starting something new!

Gee you guys and gals are helpful :) :) :)

Have fun! LOL We ARE a decisive bunch, aren't we {evil grin}

Ask away when you get to the closters and rice stitches and such; I'll hunt up a few of my links for stitch diagrams, too.
