37th Birthday Presents

A gorgeous gift from Tracy of Inkcircles designs! Three of her own designs _squee_ and some chocolate!

Croakworth 2008
Pizzazz
Celtic Beasties: Halloween or Knot

The choc packet says: "Choxie: its intended for the more sophisticated of chocolate palates, we suggest you keep it hidden from mere amateurs"

Wow - how I got you all fooled ;-P

The card makes me snicker every time I look at it :)

Yes I turn 37 today.

Lovely pressy! Happy Birthday also!! Hope you had a great day. Cheers

That looks like a fun bunch of charts - enjoy! (And now that you'll be having a life again, we should see more pictures, yes? {ducks})

Sisu Lull said...

Cute charts. Have fun with them. After all, doddering old women like to make things with fibers.
(Says she who is 17 months older then you, LOL)

Old girl. I definitely shoult have bought THAT card I saw. No exactly family viewing but obviously appropriate for an OLD woman like YOU. Love the pressies.
Hope you enjoyed the day with lots to eat and DRINK.

Happy Birthday Mel! Enjoy your gifties!

Thanks everyone.

I was certain I had blogged about the later presents I had received - but I've spent ages scouring my blog and group lists and I can't see any reference - so I sincerely apologize!

Details are with each of the photos above.

Also received but not photographed were an e-card from Karen (Thank you it was gorgeous!) and nail mail cards from Claire and Kay.

I thoughtI had taken pictures of the cards, but again I cannot find these. Also I put both cards away very carefully for safe keeping. So when I find this super great secret safe spot I'll take more pics!

Apologies to all!

Gorgeous colors, this will be fun to see as a WIP!!

Very nice!!

Karen R said...

Wow, that looks really neat!! Now that I'm pretty sure I'm hooked on it, I'm sure you will be, too, especially with such great colors & design to get you started! Very nice, Mariann!

Karen R said...

Neat - that's an idea, doing those LDs as RRs. Maybe I'm just cheap - no, I should say frugal - but as much as I hate Kreinik, I could never give them away :) The pain fades as soon as you work on a non-Kreinik project LOL And Gloriana silk definitely makes the pain ease even quicker...

Paula Hubert said...

Nice present! Lovely colors! I'm sure you'll be hooked once you have a chance to work on this. It's really not as intimidating as it looks.

Paula Hubert said...

Very pretty sparklies!

Paula Hubert said...

Lovely!

Melissa Hicks said...

I'm the same - I weep and curse but I still use them - so I'm a happy repository for anyone else who cannot stand to use them anymore - I give them good useful homes :) :)

Claire EJ said...

Meh, it's a combination of both....
Soon as I get the RR done, I'll be sending the package with moving and birthday in it.

Yum dark chocolate!

Love the Long Dog Samplers! What a nice treat.

Milly Dunaway said...

What a pretty array of colors with sparkles.

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks Milly - my friends are truly good to me!

Claire EJ said...

Shudders at the thought of itchy metallics but oohs and aahs over the pretty sparkly colours.
Nice RAK.

Sisu Lull said...

Pretty! I like the sample piece too. That would have been helpful the first time I did hardanger. Great idea.
The chocolates sounds wonderful too. I have to see if I can find the cherry M&M's again and send you a pack. Almost as addictive as Junior Mints (wink).

Melissa Hicks said...

I don't think I've ever tried Cherry M&Ms. Normal ones, peanut ones, mint ones .... not cherry.

And yes I know where there's a store on my walking route home that sells Junior Mints :)

Sisu Lull said...

Yummmmm, dark chocolate! Take a nibble of the 70% for me! The darker the better!

Sisu Lull said...

They are damnably hard to find, even around here. One little local grocery still carries them but I have not found them anywhere else. They taste amazingly like a chocolate covered cherry, but without the sugary white goo. I normally can't stand to eat more than a couple M&M's, but I can suck down a bag of these really quick, LOL.

Melissa Hicks said...

Ooooh now I'm scared .....

Mariann Mäder said...

Mind you, there are a few little mistakes on that sample piece, LOL!

Don't know whether Mel already noted that there's a slight discrepancy between the chart and the sample, but it just goes to show that a bit of creative re-designing can gloss over every mistake made (grins sheepishly).

In fact I cut in one of the areas I only wanted to put in Algerian eyelets, so after the first cut made I had to do the rest of that area, too. Not that it did any harm.

Mariann Mäder said...

Lovely collection of nice little RG sparklies! I am not too fond of stitching metallics, but these are still quite okay and less of a PITA

Lovely colours!

Mariann Mäder said...

I love these spotte samplers! Even considered getting them myself. So I'd look forward to see these in the RR!

I'm not overly fond of the Kreiniks, but for short bits I can live with them. I'm sure you're going to put them to good use :-)

Birthday card is beautiful!

Claire EJ said...

What a fab gift.

Carolyn Ford said...

Wow! congrats Mel and kudos to Mariann for such a lovely and enabling gift! Looking forward to seeing the floss colors closeup when you start the project. = )

Carolyn Ford said...

Nice RAK - have fun stitching with them, especially that Wisper, that is cool stuff!

Carolyn Ford said...

What a haul! = ) and how nice of Debbie to find a new home for her unwanted Kreiniks with you, I'm sure you'll put them to good use. Have you read the Codex Alera series yet? Let me know what you think of it, so far the blurb on the flyleaf hasn't motivated me to read them, but your review might. = ) Enjoy all of your birthday/housewarming goodies!

Carolyn Ford said...

Yummy! and I really like that Opus Magnusson! Did you send some kind of signal that Long Dog and chocolates were the theme for your birthday this year?

Melissa Hicks said...

Carolyn, I've read the first three and love them !!!! The plot twists a fairly predictable - but I love they way she shows that not every baddie is bad all the time and that good people can do the right thing for the right reason with unintended consequences down the track.

The action sequences are great too.

Definitely a series to read and collect if you love fantasy - especially the Eddings or Sword and Sorcery style fantasy :)

Melissa Hicks said...

I send vibes out for chocolate continually - birthdays and years have nothing to do with it :) I'll take any chocolate any time!

As for the Long Dogs - no it was a pure surprise - but I love all three of them !!!!!

Laura Landis said...

Lovely assortment of charts! I hope they helped make your move smoother!!

Laura Landis said...

Very cool gift! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on it.

Laura Landis said...

Great RAK! Hope you enjoy them!!

Laura Landis said...

Fabulous package! The LD's are just gorgeous patterns. Can't wait to see what you send for the next round.

Melissa Hicks said...

I'm starting this one as soon as BoInk is finished - so hopefully early next month!

Laura Landis said...

Yummy! and the chocolates look good, too! hehehe

Melissa Hicks said...

The chocolates were delicious {urp}

Sisu Lull said...

And wasn't it just MEL who was asking if people could check their hand-dyed threads for some DMC compatible shades for her??
Methinks Mel may just have her own hand-dyed color library now, LOL.
Great RAK Mel! Droolicious!!

Karen R said...

Holy moley!! That is a great bunch of flosses!!! And a pretty piece of Iris Garden - I love that fabric :)

Carolyn Ford said...

Whoa - what a great way to start the week! Gorgeous!

Vicki Miller said...

Great Rak! Now you can start more projects with all that floss.

Melissa Hicks said...

Do I *really* need to answer that ????? You have 7 hours - I'm off to bed!

Melissa Hicks said...

Flavours please?

Claire EJ said...

Cheeky cow...

I thought my blog description might be good enough for you LOL.

Sleep well.

Melissa Hicks said...

Now be honest - you didn't really! You just thought I'd hive off to bed without checking :) :) :)

Claire EJ said...

Well, I hoped it would be enough...sighs...uploaded now dear.
Quit the countdown and sleep well :)
