OK don't fall down ......

I know my reputation regarding the C-word ..... but this year I actually have to get organised and actually plan a budget.  Not being a cheapskate (well more than I have to be) but just so I can factor some into each pay as and when I can rather than just blowing out my credit cards as I have done previously.

{Yes yes I know - this is how normal people do it}.

So questions:

1. Mariann and Claire - are we doing the ex-BAPXS Christmas Card Exchange again this year?  Mariann are you happy to organise and check the list of participants to see if they all want to participate again?

2. Everyone - do you have a particular wish list or Amazon list that you want my attention directed to this year?

Yes I'm being blunt, but the success of Claire's audacity in just saying "here's my amazon.co.uk list" that made life easier for some of us and got Claire *exactly* what she wanted - well why not?

Lets use those wish lists people!    Which would be your favourite wish list for me to use?

{Deities only know that there's no way you're all getting handmade gifts this year - so direct me to the commercial sites}

Yes all of you - you responses and subsequent gift/card offerings will be ranked in terms of budgeting though - usual disclaimers regarding whims and "just because you want it aint mean you're gonna get it" still apply:) :)

PMSL...good for you girl.
I plan on cutting right back on cards this year.
We have so many people on our list, it's ridiculous and some of them, we haven't seen in ten years.
Why oh why do we still do cards?
Amazon and Angel Yarns both hold wish lists for me. They probably need a little updating but they're good still.
I think everyone has less cash this year...

OK, that's it! This is the first of the season.

BAH HUMBUG!!! lol

We were in one of our supermarkets a couple of weeks ago, Christmas stuff a plenty already. Ye Gods! It's not that I'm not a Christian (which I'm not) or a killjoy, rather it's the shameless commercialisation of something that should be a special thing for a lot of people.

May the season of goodwill bring you all that you need and most of what you wish, now can we have some respite till the Eve of Christmas please? lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been thinking about the C word and budgeting this year. {sigh} Between having a car payment for the first time in years and the price of heat for this winter... I'm definitely evaluating things, too. I've also been hit with a reality check in that I won't get half of the things made that I wanted to!

Anyway, my Lust List on Multiply is up to date, and y'all know I'm a sucker for pretty threads. Also, gift certificates to Audible.com would not come amiss if anyone felt so inclined..

OK, I have wishlists on BAPXS on Multiply, as well as:
Heaven and Earth Designs
Nordic Needle
Herrschners
PatternsOnline.com

I am easy, LOL.

Seeing that I am deep into an expansive (and expensive) remodel of my house, I'd LOVE to have a fully functional bathroom! I'm about to lose the one full bath I still have. It will be temporarily transformed into bathtub-only for a short while, which means brushing teeth and going potty will have to take place in the half-bath in the basement. This will really be fun at 3 am...

I could get you a gift certificate for a bucket via Walmart ?????

Preferences about which wish list in preference to the other wish lists?

LOL! Go ahead!

Mel

I'm just as short of cash as everyone else is... I think I have a wishlist at Amazon, but would have to update it.

Sweetie, you don't need to send me anything for Christmas! I really love birthdays, which I consider my own personal day, so that's usually enough for me...

Melissa Hicks said...

Pfffft - seeing as Leena has NOT gotten back to me about your birthday gift, you might be able to consider that one your Christmas present {sigh}

Natalie Mikesell said...

I don't want anything either. I am just looking forward to a quiet holiday at home recovering from my sugery. And hopefully feeling pain free for christmas :)

Melissa Hicks said...

Pfffft!

Whether or not I send you ladies a little something in the mail, is MY decision not yours :)

I'm just asking for pointers so that if I *do* decide, then I know where best to direct my efforts!

Especially from those of you without partners or without caring partners!

{Unfortunately I can't help with the pain-free bit, bit I can distract you from it for a few moments}

Natalie Mikesell said...

:) Mel, I treasure everything you send me. I keep the soap as long as possible and only treat myself to it on days when I can actually relax. I don't want you to feel pressured to get christmas shopping or preparing done. I want you to enjoy your holiday in your new place in your new city! Go look at the lights and enjoy the season :) In the heat....okay, so maybe enjoy a nice cold drink while looking at the lights.

Melissa Hicks said...

Now sweetheart, when do I actually do anything I really don't want to ????

I'm just asking for ways to make it easier for myself - you know that I am intrinsically a lazy person :) :)

And this Christmas more than ever I'm conscious of spending my hard earned cash in the most appropriate way - rather than usual hit and miss :) :)

Sisu Lull said...

Nope. But I echo the "you don't need to get me anything" sentiment. And don't 'pffft' me. Sounds like you had a bean burrito.

Melissa Hicks said...

I've had explosive diarrhea for three days running - I can darn well pfft if I want to !!!!!

{grin}

Mariann Mäder said...

Now THAT is unusual! Leena is usually very reliable! And that's just fine with me - having a very late birthday gift is just as welcome, love!

Mariann Mäder said...

I second Nat! And it is of course your decision :-)

Oh, and I also still have your soaps. While I can't really use them, they still smell nice where I've placed them! I love that.

Melissa Hicks said...

Multipurpose :) I just opened a Rose Soap a friend gave me about four years ago and I think of her every time I use it ......

BTW your birthday present will be posted off in the next couple of days! I have confirmation that its now reached the shop :)

Mariann Mäder said...

Thanks, love! I'm really looking forward to this one! And you were very cunningly sneaking out my opinion, so it will take a special place...

As for the soaps: I think that every time we make a gift ourselves it's so much more valuable in that there is a piece of our soul that goes into the item. When I stitch for someone then I usually think of the recipient while I'm working and at the same time a tiny fraction of myself goes into the piece I work. Same with everything else hand-made, it's only the idiots of this world who refuse to understand that!

Isn't that sad? Just like the discussion I had with one of the soccer moms one day when I was working on Bouquet for Cheryl at a game - she told me I should see that. Umm, with the amount of hours I have in it, no one could afford it, and she said, what, "$20-30?" When I told her I'd been working on it for almost 1 1/2 years, she still said, "Yeah, but you should sell them" People are clueless....

Melissa Hicks said...

Mel will refrain from making generic comments about soccer moms .... Karen may hurt her.

Karen R said...

It's okay, I distinguish myself as a soccer parent. I don't have the income to be a soccer mom - nor the wardrobe.

And you have too many brains!
