Whinging Drama Queen

You know, sometimes there is an upside to being such a whinging whiny Drama Queen.

Between Alison's place and the shops is a very steep hill.  Going to the shops is fine - its downhill.

I was dreading coming back home.  Walking up towards the steep part I started composing a blog post in my head, a tableau of me lying face down in Alison's lounge-room, drooling because I don't have the energy to move, wishing I was dead .... perhaps a side issue in there about minutely examining the dust bunnies ... Jane and the dogs leaving me alone because they were laughing too hard to leap upon me in my time of vulnerability.

I was just trying to figure out where the cats fit into the scenario, when I looked around and realised I had completely walked the steep bit and was literally on the downward trip home.

I was breathing hard - but not excessively.  No signs I was about to throw up or have a heart attack.

You know there might just be something to this regular exercise business after all .....

That's the nice outcome of hauling your whinging drama queen self to and from work every day, LOL!

Cheapest and safest way to exercise if you ask me. All around I can see what sport does to peoples' bodies and when I see them fight their ruined knees, arms, legs, feet and what other possible areas of their bodies then I'm glad I'm doing nothing but a bit of walking.

LOL I love it Mel!! Did you ever figure out how that cats would fit in?

Oh good for you love....nest time you walk it, you can have a Lothario clinging to your back as an added weight...you'll still make it just fine.
All this walking to work is so good for you.
Lovely to see you online.
Hope your weekend is/has been fab.

Not only a healthy exercise but look at all those pounds you are shedding!!!!!! Hope you had a great week end and have come back refreshed and exhilarated.

No shedded pounds yet :( :( :(

Jane and I are in sooooo much Trouble.

We we discussing corsets and frock coats and neo-Victoriana clothing this weekend so Jane insisted I watch the BBC miniseries of Pride and Prejudice. We evaluated the men's coats ...

Well Alison gave up on us around 11pm and went to bed. {Remember she still does the commute so she's used to getting up at 4am}

Jane and I were happy and hyped (and a little drunk and very high on caffeine) and we watched the other four hours of the miniseries and we are wee bit loud in our comments and laughter and drooling after Mr Darcy and mimicking of Mrs Bennett ...

We were in sooo much trouble this morning. Alison knew *exactly* when we finally went to bed ... she also knew every time an episode finished and how much we both thoroughly enjoyed the evening {blush}

I have redeemed myself though. I've spent the last hour playing with Jane in a corset :) :) Fun for me - fab look on her and alison got to play the proud mum :) :)

Photos coming ....

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend, and glad you redeemed yourself a bit!

Yep had a fabulous weekend right up until the trip home.

Long post short version:

My stork scissors which made it through on the way to Sydney, got confiscated on the way home.

There was plane problems so instead of walking int he door at 8:30pm I got home after midnight.

Felt funky Monday morning so I called in sick and went back to bed.

Discovered that I hadn't had a meal in 24 hours and hadn't eaten anything in 17 hours. I'm borderline hypoglycemic - so hence why I had been feeling a ittle funky.

Late yesterday afternoon, hours after I had eaten I got hit with really bad abdominal pain and an explosive trip to the bathroom. This is usually an extreme gluten reaction but I hadn't eaten anything for hours.

Later last night I had plain steamed veggies for dinner and the same reaction occurred.

I now think I have some kind of gastro bug so I'm taking today off and going to the medical centre.

Also talking with mum some of the other symptoms I'd had are the same as my Dad had before he was diagnosed with diabetes. So after discussions with mum and Alison we are wondering if my hypoglycemia might have been masking pre-diabetes symptoms. So I'm going to make appointments today to get all that checked too.

Generally feeling tired weak and blah.

Be well Mel.

Thanks Jim. Turned out I've picked up a viral gastro-bug which will take a few days to go through the system. Unfortunately the soc can't see why this would keep me at home - so I'm off to work this morning.

Claire EJ said...

Really? Sigh...hope you are ok today love.

Melissa Hicks said...

Not really - feel like crap and could do with another day in bed - but its not going to happen.

Anyway its all low level stuff - I'm not going to die or lose a limb ....

Jim Westlake said...

Probably the best way to look at it. Take it easy, well as easy you can in any event.

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks Uncle Jim - OK off to prepare lunch and then the trudge to work. Catch you all in an hour or so .... or goodnight to the Europeans :)

Claire EJ said...

LOL, yes, goodnight....big hugs for a good day love.

Have a good one. Night!

Melissa Hicks said...

Thanks all ....

Claire EJ said...

Hey, you've reached work...how ya feeling?

Melissa Hicks said...

you don't want the honest answer :)

I really do NOT want to be here today ....

I just want to be tucked up in bed with a book and a cup of chocolate and some warm snugglies from my beloved ...

Oooh look out my inner Dramas Queen has reemerged. Knew it wouldn't take long.

Claire EJ said...

So you feel like crap.
No real surprise....Hope you make it through the day...
Catch ya tomorrow...my tomorrow anyway...

Melissa Hicks said...

Have a good sleep love - my office looks like how I feel - hint - don't go away for a week - things pile up .....

Claire EJ said...

Please don't try to do everything today...pace yourself...
G'night...

Paula Hubert said...

Ugh - I missed this yesterday. Sorry to hear you're still feeling like dreck... take it as easy as you can. It's definitely hard to come back to an office full when you're not 100%,

Melissa Hicks said...

As I told Claire yesterday - I did what I could as I could and nothing more. Same will go for today ....

Claire EJ said...

Would like to think the gastro bug is on the way out by now, but I know better.
Hope your day is shorter than yesterday and you are feeling better.
Hugs to you.

Melissa Hicks said...

Gastro bug is definitely on the way out - I now have theummm opposite symptoms and still with a dodgy tummy .....

{sigh}

And my hard boiled eggs didn't hard boil enough last night. Can you reboil eggs?

Claire EJ said...

Erm....do you not think some of your stomach problem could be the sulphur in the eggs?
Best to avoid those and dairy when you have a gastro bug...one makes you go, the other bungs you up.

Melissa Hicks said...

Well I'm flipping between the two states with a decent dose of Thrush thrown in for good measure.

Just trying to get some protein in my salad when I can't keep meat more than a day .....

Claire EJ said...

Sigh....would it hurt to go without protein for a day or two?

Melissa Hicks said...

{whine} I'm already going without chocolate .....
